Chorea, Huntington drug therapy

L-dopa therapy involves giving a daily dose of the drug of the order of a thousand times the amount of striatal DA normally synthesized per day. It is therefore hardly surprising that side-effects of the treatment are fairly frequent [19, 174-177, 179-185]. Hyperkinetic and behavioural side-effects are of interest in relation to Huntington s chorea and depression and are commented on in sections 5.5.1 and 5.6.3 respectively.
