Chloride single-ligand complexes

The zinc chloride complex of l-(2-pyridyl)-2-(2-thienyl)ethyne has been structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction showing the ligand is a monodentate nitrogen donor. The N2Q2 tetrahedral coordination geometry reveals little apparent influence of the acetylene or thiophene groups.110... [Pg.1154]

Methyl pyruvate thiosemicarbazone in the presence of zinc chloride or acetate resulted in the formation of complexes with the ligand hydrolyzed or transesterified. The complexes with pyruvate thiosemicarbazone, ZnL2, or ethyl pyruvate thiosemicarbazone, ZnLCl2 were structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography showing respectively a distorted octahedral and distorted square pyramidal geometry.874... [Pg.1225]

Another example of an achiral guest and a homochiral library was described in the work of Williams [9], which combined Co(II), bipy, and the homochiral ligand bipy. All possible combinations of A- and A-[Co(bipy ) (bipy)3 complexes were formed as confirmed by NMR and ES-MS. Treating with D-Cl was found to shift the speciation to only [Co(bipy)3] + and A-[Co(bipy )3] + (by NMR). Previous work on similar systems had shown that D-Cl deuterated the basic amine sites, and the resulting ammonium ions cooperatively bound two chloride ions [10]. In this example, addition of the achiral chloride ion amplified a single diastereomer of A-[Co(bipy )3] + (Fig. 5.9). [Pg.162]
