The newsletters of ECRO, initiated in 1972, and of AChemS, the first issue of which appeared in 1983, are very useful sources of Information about current activities in the field of vertebrate olfaction, including chemical communication. A development of the utmost importance took place in 1973 when the first issue of Chemoreception Abstracts" appeared for which E. P. Koster and P.
