Advances in NMR instrumentation and methodology have now made it possible to determine site-specific proton chemical shift assignments for a large number of proteins and nucleic acids (1,2). It has been known for some time that in proteins the "structural" chemical shifts (the differences between the resonance positions in a protein and in a "random coil" polypeptide (3-5),) carry useful structural information. We have previously used a database of protein structures to compare shifts calculated from simple empirical models to those observed in solution (6). Here we demonstrate that a similar analysis appears promising for nucleic acids as well. Our conclusions are similar to those recently reported by Wijmenga et al (7),... 

Recently, Weisleder etal.26 have reported the carbon-13 chemical-shift assignments for cephalotaxine and related alkaloids.

The authors also reported chemical shift assignments for one additional compound [92]. Refluxing the t-butyl substituted precursor of 66 in CH2CI2 with triphenylphosphine, iodine, and triethylamine led to the formation of the substituted p-carboline, 68... 

The melting point data for the ring systems of this series are given in Table 6 and the proton NMR chemical shift assignments for the triazole protons in (22) and (24) are given in Table 5. 

Recently, all eight diastereoisomeric 1,6-anhydro-P-D-hexopyranoses and three related model compounds have been studied in O-depleted water using 1 0 NMR spectroscopy methodology [94,97]. Chemical shift assignments for all resonances in the eleven compounds were made. The results for glucosan ( 95), mannosan( 96), and galactosan ( 97) as well as the three model compounds 98-100 are shown below.
