Chemical Data Management System limits

Obtaining information on consumer and environmental exposure is even more difficult. No data base with sufficiently broad coverage of the chemicals has been developed. USDA s Meat and Poultry Inspection Monitoring Program and EPA s Pesticide Enforcement Management System are data bases that could be useful for assessing consumer exposure. The former provides analysis data on a limited number of pesticides, heavy metal, and drug residues in meat and poultry, whereas the latter has a small file on levels of pesticides and a few other chemicals identifted in human tissues. 

Once many in-house, chemical structure data bases had been built, the users began to realize that it was more efficient to use commercially-available structure handling software for structures alone (or structures and a minimal amount of related property data) and to take advantage of data base management systems to handle property data. Molecular Design Limited (MDL) and Telesystemes modified their MACCS and DARC software, respectively, to allow for the appropriate interfacing of structures and data. 

Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCINFO). This set of four CD-ROM disks contains several valuable data bases of information that are updated on a quarterly basis MSDS, CHEM Data, OHS Source, and OHS Data. The MSDS component currently contains over 60,000 MSDS supplied by chemical manufacturers and distributors. It also contains several other data bases [RIPP, RIPA, Pest Management Research Information System (PRIS)], one of which (PRIS) even includes information on pest management products, including their presence and allowable limits in food.
