Celontin - Methsuximide

Succinimides Ethosuximide (Zarontin) Methsuximide (Celontin) Affect calcium channels appear to inhibit spontaneous firing in thalamic neurons by limiting calcium entry... [Pg.108]

Drugs in this category include ethosuximide (Zaron-tin), methsuximide (Celontin), and phensuximide (Milontin). All three drugs are primary agents in the treatment of absence (petit mal) seizures, but ethosuximide is the most commonly prescribed. [Pg.109]

Methswdmide. N-demethylation and p-hydroxylation of parent and metabolite occur. Methsuximide, W,2-di-methyl-2-phenylsuccinimidc (Celontin), has some use against alienee and complex partial seizures. [Pg.506]

Three succinimides have proved useful in the control of absence seizures ethosuximide (proprietary name Zaron-tin), methsuximide (proprietary name Celontin), and phen-suximide (proprietary name Milontin). Ethosuximide is widely used and is reviewed elsewhere in this chapter. Methsuximide and phensuximide are less commonly used and monitored. [Pg.1255]
