This review also covers the literature included in Chemical Abstracts up to September 1997 and contains comprehensive discussions on biological activities of the metabolites isolated from species of Celastraceae. 

P-Sitosterol, betulin, and betulinic, ursolic and oleanolic acids, common metabolites in the plant kingdom, are also present in species of the Celastraceae, and have been reported to exhibit a wide range of biological activities.
