Fonr species are polycentric (Fignre 8.5). They show a potential continuous neotropical distribution (Cedrelafissilis and Madura tinctoria) or a potential discontinuous circum-Amazonian distribution (Astronium urundeuva and Geoffroea spinosa). All of them show a potential distribution much wider than their present-day distribntion. With their potential continuous distribution, Cedrela fissilis and Madura tinctoria are defined as generalist, because they could grow everywhere in the neotropical region. [Pg.204]
