Cation-exchange with size exclusion

Twenty-one sugar acids, lactones, and N-acetylated amino-sugars have also been examined on an H -form cation-exchanger, with dilute sulphuric acid as eluant. The separations effected by this IMP chromatography (see above) appear to be due to a combination of ion- and size-exclusion mechanisms. A number of useful, rapid (<15 min ) separations were reported, particularly of closely related uronlc acids and their lactones, and u.v. detection could be employed.
