Cataban process

Cataban Process, 804 LO-CAT Process, 805 Sulfint Process, 823 SulFerox Process, 825... [Pg.731]

The Cataban process was developed by Rhodia Inc. of New York, and described in some detail by Meuly and Ruff (1972) and Meuly (1973). It is no longer a commercially active process. The basis of the process is the oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to elemental sulfur by reduction of ferric ions to the ferrous state, followed by oxidation of the ferrous ions to ferric state by contact with air. The reactions involved can be expressed in the following equations ... [Pg.804]

The Cataban process is primarily useful for the removal of small amounts of hydrogen sulfide from exhaust gas streams where recovery of sulfur is not the prime objective. The process is quite simple, requiring essentially two contact vessels for absorption and regeneration, and... [Pg.804]

Meuly, W. C., 1973, Cataban Process for the Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide from Gaseous and Liquid Streams, Paper presented at the Twelfth Annual Purdue Air Quality Conference, Purdue Univ., Nov. 7-8. [Pg.861]

Cataban A process for removing small amounts of hydrogen sulfide from industrial gas streams by oxidation, in aqueous solution, to elemental sulfur. The oxidant is the ferric ion,... [Pg.52]
