There has been some work on the chromoprotein that produces the blue color of Rhizostoma pulmo, a jellyfish of the Russian coast of the Black Sea. This chromoprotein is similar to the Cassio blue of Cassiopeia xamachana. These pigments occur as photoprotectors for the zooxanthellae assodated with jellyfish (Blanket and Phelan, 1987 Bulina et al, 2004 Phelan et al, 2006). [Pg.1359]
