Reaction with carbonyl bromide fluoride

Phosgene can be used as the starting material for the preparation of other potentially useful carbonyl halides and carbonyl pseudohalides. Reaction of phosgene with fluorspar, for example, gives COCIF (see Section 9.1.1 and Chapter 16). With aluminium(III) bromide, COBrj is formed (Section 9.1.2.6). Reaction of COClj with HF gives COFj (see Section 9.10.4 and Chapter 13), reaction with silver cyanide gives carbonyl dicyanide, CO(CN)j (Section 9.1.7), whereas reaction with a mixture of sodium fluoride and HCN gives the mixed carbonyl halide pseudohalide, COFCN (Section 9.1.7 and Chapter 13). The chemistry of these... [Pg.216]

Allylsilane and Propargylsilane Synthesis. (lodomethyl)-trimethylsilane has been used to prepare aflylsUanes, which are t)q)icafly utilized in Lewis acid or fluoride ion-promoted reactions with carbonyl compounds to provide homoallylic alcohols. Treatment of Mc3SiCH2l with methyltriphenylphosphonium bromide and base produces an intermediate phosphonium salt which can be further utilized to prepare allylsilanes from carbonyl compounds. This procedure has been modified so that this series of transformations can be done as a one-pot procedure (eq 1). ... [Pg.323]

This cyclization is a reaction developed by Mori, who carried out a series of investigations with tin reagent 33. Fluoride is a much more reactive anion for initiation than any of the other halides, although it often leads to decomposition of the starting materials. In the case of vinylic or aryl halogen compounds the iodides are easier to transform than the bromides, and chlorides are unrcactive. The carbonyl group can be derived from either an aldehyde or a ketone, and even esters are sufficiently electrophilic.22... [Pg.153]
