Carbohydrate anisyl tellurides are easily prepared by treatment of the corresponding mesylates or tosylates with the anisyl teUurolate anion. By irradiation of these tellurocarbohy-drates in the presence of M-acetoxythiopyridone and the electrophilic olefin, the tandem addnct is formed.
