Candida Pulcherrima

Pulcherrimin, the red pigment from Candida pulcherrima, is a polymeric ferric complex of pulcherriminic acid (9). The structure of... [Pg.202]

DNB was biodegraded under aerobic conditions to carbon dioxide by a microbial strain, Candida pulcherrima, isolated from soil contaminated with 1,3-DNB manufacture wastes (Dey and Godbole 1986). Some biotransformation products detected in the metabolic pathway of biodegradation of... [Pg.83]

Biological role unknown. From various strains of Candida pulcherrima and possibly other yeasts where it occurs as the red ferric complex (pul-cherrimin). Yield of 8.1 g from cells formed in 201 of fermentation liquid. Biosynthesis proceeds through diketopiperazine (74). [Pg.87]

Dichloro-3,6-diisobutylpyrazine (237) is the starting material for a very similar synthesis of pulcherriminic acid (10).430 Pulcherri-minic acid, as already mentioned in Section I, is derived from pulcherrimin (9), a metabolite of the yeast Candida pulcherrima. The key step in the synthesis of pulcherriminic acid is the initial step of... [Pg.206]

Cook and Slater (1954) obtained pulcherriminic acid (14) at first as an acid component of a red pigment, pulcherrimin, from Candida pulcherrima. MacDonald (1963) subsequently obtained this acid directly from the same fungus. The structure proposed by MacDonald was essentially the same as that proposed by Cook and Slater (1956), although the properties of pulcherriminic acid obtained by both research groups were not entirely identical. [Pg.201]
