Some alkaloids (Table 6.1) are still used in medicine todayand the medicinal interest in alkaloids as possible medicines for cure of such dangerous human diseases as cancer, AIDS, and lung diseases is increasing. They are used as natural or modified compounds. They can also be totally synthesized on the basis of the model of the natural molecule.
