The discovery by Clayton et al. (1973) that Allende CAls contain non-mass-dependent enrichments in (relative to 0) was in part responsible for setting both the excitement and tone of CAl research for the ensuing 30 years. This isotopic signature, together with evidence for extinct A1 and nonradiogenic isotope anomalies in elements such as titanium and calcium, was attributed to the isotopic compositions of the presolar precursor dust from which the CAIs formed. Hence, CAIs have astrophysical significance. [Pg.233]

A knowledge of the f-values of spectral lines is important in many problems in the fields of spectroscopy, astrophysics, and plasma physics. Recently considerable effort has been made to compile tables of reliable f-values from the best available theoretical and experimental results. Two such compilations have been published by Wiese et al. (1966, 1969), the first containing data for the elements hydrogen to neon and the second for the elements sodium to calcium. These f-values are also useful in probiems which are not directly connected with radiation processes. Thus... [Pg.107]
