C fluoride

Although Faraday discovered the unusual electrical properties of lead fluoride, he did not explain his observations. It is now known that the high electrical conductivity of Pbp2 is due to the motion of F ions, not electrons. At 500-700 °C, fluoride ions diffuse rapidly through the Pbp2 lattice. Pbp2 was the first example of a solid with high ionic conductivity. [Pg.1801]

The influence of the activation temperature of the catalyst can be seen in the data of Table 60. There, the melt indices are presented of polymers made with the catalysts activated at 600 vs. 800 °C. Fluoride treatment of the catalyst seems to compensate for the lower activation temperature, which suggests that it removes potential ligands. [Pg.508]

Most of the Li salts are soluble in H2O. Some, including LiCl and LiClOs, are very deliquescent. The hydroxide, carbonate (2dM at 0°C), fluoride (IdM at 18 °C, comparable to NaF) and phosphate, Li3P04 (3 mM), are, like those of the... [Pg.30]

Zirconium is resistant to corrosion by phosphoric acid at concentrations up to 55% and temperatures exceeding the boiling point. Above 55% concentration, the corrosion rate increases with concentration and temperature, but it remains below 0.125 mm y for concentrations up to 85% at 60°C. Fluoride ion impurities in phosphoric acid, originating from the feedstock, can increase the corrosion rate. Zirconium does not withstand hydrofluoric acid even at concentrations as low as 0.001%. [Pg.776]

Student Annotation Bep2 is also known as beryllium c//fluoride, but because this is the only compound that beryllium forms with fluorine, the name beryllium fluoride is unambiguous. [Pg.322]

If the halogen-alkyl metal exchange is carried out above — 20° C, fluoride ion is formed, together with intractable organic material. Similarly, above 0° C the metallation reaction led to fluoride ion formation. [Pg.150]
