Butan-2-one cyanohydrin

P)-Oxynitrilase from Linum usitatissimum has been used for the synthesis of (R)-butan-2-one cyanohydrin on a preparative scale 651.

Since the natural substrate of MeHNL in cyanogenesis is butan-2-one cyanohydrin, it was expected that the formation of ketone cyanohydrins would be catalyzed by MeHNL. In Table 8 the results of the MeHNL-catalyzed preparation of (S)-ketone cyanohydrins from 2-alkanones with HCN are summarized [14].
