Jensen No one who has worked in this field has ever thought ofg as an entity or thing. Spearman, who discovered, actually said the very same thing that you re saying now, and Cyril Burt and Hans Eysenk said that also just about everyone who has worked in this field has not been confused on that point. 

Deary That is what Spearman started with. It was later scientists that criticized him for not using tests. He used teachers estimates in his first study, and he asked the children in the playground which were the smartest fellow pupils. These all correlated quite highly, so they were quite good lay psychometricians. Then, Cyril Burt used interviews with people to estimate their intelligence, and look at the trouble he got himself into ...
