Flowever, with CFD, configurations with mostly known or at least steady-state boundary conditions and surface temperatures are calculated. In cases where the dynamic behavior of the building masses and the changing driving forces for the natural ventilation are of importance, thermal modeling and combined thermal and ventilation modeling mu.st be applied (see Section 11..5). 

Due to the thermally driven air exchange and the large building masses involved, the problem must be studied using a dynamic thermal building mode) wirh an integrated ventilation model. 

In ventilation systems the temperature rise calculated on the basis of specific heat alone will be pessimistic by one or two degrees because of the effect of building mass. Unless an extract is specifically designed to remove heat from hot spots or lights, the extract and room temperature can be taken to be the same.

To demonstrate the effectiveness ofthe proposed damping system, athirty-storey moderately asymmetric building with rectangular cross section is analysed under seismic excitation. The building data were obtained by Huo et al. (2001), the dynamic analysis and optimization is described in detail in Fu et al. (2010). The building mass is homogenously distributed over the storeys with a floor mass of m = 384 x 10 kg and a moment...
