Bromo-methane water

Anthraquinonecarboxamide in its Sj state will photoadd two molecules of water. The photoreactions of diphenylhomobenzoquinones in the presence of amine donors have been studied. 1-Bromo substituted diphenylhomobenzoqui-none irradiated in the presence of triethylamine induces opening of the cyclopropane ring with formation of 2-diphenylmethyl-5-methyl-l,4-benzoquinone, and with dimethylaniline, a mixture of an aminated bicyclic dione and bis(p-dimethyl-aminophenyl)methane is produced. Irradiation of boron difluoride complexes derived from 1,3-diketones can lead to a number of different types of process, in particular exciplex formation and slow cycloaddition. Evidence has now been advanced to suggest that excitation of these complexes leads directly to an exciplex without the participation of an encounter complex, and that this solvolyses to free ions. [Pg.173]

A V-bis [2-(dimethylamino)ethyl] -N1 ft-dimethyl-1,2-ethanediamine] bromo-palladium(II) bromide is a yellow diamagnetic solid. It melts at 210° with decomposition. It is very hygroscopic and must be handled and stored in a moisture-free atmosphere. It is soluble in water, chloroform, and dichloro-methane but insoluble in most other common laboratory solvents. The H nmr spectrum in D20 exhibits a single resonance at 2.60 ppm for the methyl protons. The electronic spectrum obtained on an aqueous solution is characterized by an absorption maximum at 352 nm (e = 792 L mole-1 cm"1). [Pg.132]

Wang and coworkers have explored and extended the utility of halogenations of indoles by Cu(II)Cl2 and Cu(II)Br2 [50]. The best results were obtained in dichloro-methane or acetonitrile in the presence of NaOH and silica gel. Similar conditions were successfully applied to C-ring substituted 1-methylindoles. When the reaction mixture included water and fefra-butylammonium bromide, the 2,3-dibromo products were formed. 1,3-Dimethylindole gave a good yield of the 2-bromo product under the latter conditions. 1-Unsubstituted indoles often present problems, but by using NaOH/sihca and CuCU, 2-chlorination of 3-methylindole was achieved in 86% yield. [Pg.57]
