Bromley equation

For mixtures of gases, the Lindsay and Bromley equation [30] is simple to use and reliable for most purposes. [Pg.28]

For the mean activity coefficient of the salt, several expressions have been used, such as the Debye-Hiickel equation, the extended Debye-Hiickel equation, and the Bromley equation. The Bromley equation was selected because of its simplicity and its accuracy of course, other accurate equations are also available. The values of the parameter B for all cases examined are listed in Table 3. [Pg.163]

The Bromley equation (though still widely used) can give significant errors under a variety of conditions. An extensive exercise on the correlation of pool film-boiling heat transfer from cylinders is reported by Sakurai and Shiotsu [180], whose expression for the mean convective heat transfer coefficient is expressed in dimensionless form as follows ... [Pg.1062]

The justification for such a complex correlation seems to be that it covers a very wide range of fluids (including liquid metals), cylinder diameters, and subcoolings. It was shown to fit a very wide range of data and to perform much better than the Bromley equation (Eq. 15.163) and a variety of other earlier correlations. [Pg.1063]

With increasing electrolyte concentration, the short-range interactions become more and more dominating. Therefore, in activity coefficient models the Debye-Hiickel term, which describes the long-range interactions, has to be extended by a term describing the short-range interactions. A well-known empirical extension of the Debye-Hiickel theory is the Bromley equation [5] ... [Pg.376]

The similar behavior of the Bromley equation B parameters allows for the estimation of the parameter for untabulated species. VIhen Bromley presented his equations in 1973, along with the B values for many species, he presented tabulated values based upon an expanded estimation equation ... [Pg.600]
