Most material on bromine compounds is discussed under oscillating reactions. Pulse radiolysis of aqueous solutions of bromate gives the dioxide Br02. This is reduced by hexacyanoferrate(II) and phenoxide in clean, fast reactions. Reductions by manganese(II) and phenol are slower and more complex as complications arise from dimerization of BrOi to give Br204, [Pg.100]

Oxidation by periodate of octacyanotungstate(IV) and chromium(III) has been reported. The latter reaction involves a second-order dependence on Cr(III), interpreted in terms of an inner-sphere mechanism in which I(VII) bridges two Cr(III) centers. [Pg.101]

There is no evidence of the existence of bromine dioxide beyond H. Hammerer s 10 unverified statement that in the distillation of 4 per cent, bromic acid, the distillate in some cases contains less oxygen than corresponds with bromic acid, and had the atomic ratio Br 02.
