British Bergius Syndicate

ICI had begun laboratory tests on the hydrogenation of bituminous coal early in 1927, under the direction of Kenneth Gordon (1897-1955), after it bought control in February 1927 of the British Bergius Syndicate, the company that Bergius had set up for the hydrogenation of British coal and tar.
