The first hot-air balloon crosses the Pacific (Richard Branson and Per Lindstrad) Branson and Lindstrad, who teamed up in 1987 to cross the Atlantic, make the 6,700-mile flight in 47 hours and break the world distance record. 

Even the airlines, the biggest polluters of CO2 anission, have joined the bandwagon. Richard Branson committed the next 10 years of profits for Virgin -around 3 billion - to fighting global warming. 

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew Branson, of British Wildlife Publishing, who commissioned the field guide, and Richard Lewington, who created the paintings and line drawings. The book was developed, and owes its contents and final appearance, to the collective thoughts of, and discussions between, the three of us.
