Bowl-life test

The bowl-life test was developed to study the susceptibility of the breakfast cereal to losing texture after hydration with milk. The loss of texture throughout time (usually after 5 min) is determined with a texturometer.

The stability will determine the shelf-life and, therefore, batch size, date of manufacture ( just-in-time or stockpile), need for turnover, etc. The final destination and use will determine the fine tests such as minor impurities, odor, and color.
