Bouduard reaction

A very successful method for synthesizing interstitial carbide dusters is based on the metal assisted disproportionation of carbon monoxide into a carbide atom and carbon dioxide, which is related to the Bouduard reaction. Thus, most of the Re, Fe, Ru, and Os carbide dusters have been obtained from the thermal decomposition of a carbonyl precursor and the evolution of CO2 has been confirmed in one case. [95]... 

The rate of SiC Reaction 4.1 is faster than that of Reaction 4.2 [50]. Additionally, taking into account that all lining and heating elements inside the vacuum furnace are made of carbon carbon transport may occur in the presence of oxygen by Reaction 4.3 (Bouduard reaction). 

As in any gasification of coal the exothermic reaction of carbon with oxygen to CO (60) and C02 (Eq. 78) and the endothermic reaction with water (Eq. 61) run in parallel in different extent it seems to be often a mere semantic question whether to classify- a process as a partial oxidation or to use just the more general expression of coal gasification.
