Borelli, Alfonso

Author of a number of alchemical tracts. His real identity remains unknown, although the most likely candidates are the French doctor and antiquarian Pierre Borel (c. 1620—1671) the French chemist Jacques Borrelly (d. 1689) or the Italian mathematician, doctor and astronomer Giovanni Alfonso Borelli (1608—1679). It is quite possible that all three used Borellus as a pseudonym for their alchemical work.
