Carboxylic acid-boehmite reaction

A sample of the boehmite examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), prior to reaction with the carboxylic acid, was found to consist of spherical particles varying in size from 10 -100 pm in diameter (average 50 pm), see Figure 1. 

While it is clear from the previous discussion that the carboxylate-alumoxanes are not a single species, we are able to define a structural model for the products formed from die reaction of boehmite with a carboxylic acid.
