Bisphenol porphyrin

The syntheses of the receptors 10 and 12 were carried out by the treatment of bisphenol porphyrin 13 and its Zn complex 14, respectively, with portionwise addition of a large excess of P-cyclodextrin-6-O-monotosylate (CD-Tos) 15 using caesium carbonate as base in N,N dimethyl formamide (DMF) (Fig. 6) (13). 

It is of interest that when aluminum porphyrin is used, oligomers or polymers of controlled molecular weight distribution can be produced by using bisphenol A or related bisphenol-type compounds as chain transfer agents. 

The formation of metaloporphyrin derivatives could also be ascertained for these polyethers In fact, the positive ion FAB spectra of these polyethers, treated with the acetate of bivalent transition metals (Co, Mn, Cu, Ni, Fe, and Zn), show the presence of the peaks corresponding to compoimds in which the two NH hydrogen atoms of each porphyrin ring have been replaced by one metal atom. Figure 7.3e shows the effect of cobalt on the spectrum of copolyether A similar behavior was observed in copolyethers containing different amounts of porphyrin and bisphenol-A units. ...
