Biogas properties

Biogas is normally composed of 60 to 70 percent methane and from 30 to 40 percent carbon dioxide with small amounts of hydrogen sulfide and other impurities. Because its major constituent is methane its properties closely approximate those of pure methane. The critical pressure of methane is 4710 kPa at -82.3 C. [Pg.117]

Other possible fuels (Fig. 2.38) include biobutanol, biogasoline, biomethane (biogas), various furans (2,5-dimethylfuran, 5-ethoxymethylfurfural) and terpene derivatives (e.g. RJ-4). All of these have advantageous properties and some economic potential in certain application areas. [Pg.111]
