Prescription stimulants (the category into which Ritalin falls) have been particularly abused by people between the teen years and around age 40. Beyond middle age, the use of stimulants falls off dramatically, which highlights the fact that abuse of drugs like Ritalin is especially common—and dangerous—in young adults.
