Berdan Rifle

It should be mentioned also that American General Berdan was an inventor (ca 1870) of a rifle which was not accepted by US Army, but was accepted by the Russian Govt. In its modified and simplified form it was used under the name of Berdanka as a service weapon until about 1891 and then for militia and training purposes (See Vol 2, p B101-R, Ref 44)(Also Ref 31, pp Rus 22 23)... [Pg.756]
