Benzo tetrazine 1,3-dioxides

The synthesis and NMR study of benzo[l,2,3,4]tetrazine 1,3-dioxides have been described <02EJO2342>. A convenient one-pot synthesis and antimicrobial activity of pyrimido[l,2-6][l,2,4,5]tetrazines 68 bearing different substituents have been reported <02JHC45>. 

Carbethoxypyrazol-5-yl-, indazol-3-yl- and indazol-5-yl-2-iodobenzamides have been synthesized from the corresponding 1,2,3-benzotriazinones <02FES183>. The reduction of benzo-l,2,3,4-tetrazine 1,3 dioxides 72 afforded benzotriazoles 74 via intermediates 73 <02OL3227>.

The formation of the nitrobenzo-l,2,3,4-tetrazine 1,3-dioxides 633,34 can be explained by nitration of the benzo-1,2,3,4-tetrazine 1,3-dioxide (4), or more likely by nitration of the starting material 3. 

Churakov and co-workers provided full H and C NMR assignments for a range of benzo-l,2,3,4-tetrazine 1,3-dioxides 5 (BTDOs), and for the recently prepared pyrido-l,2,3,4-tetrazine 1,3-dioxide 11a (X = H) and its 7-nitro derivative 11b <2002EJ03821, 2004RCB2577>. NMR assignment was used also to confirm the structure of 14... 

An interesting and unusual class of hydrogen free CNO-materials are the benzo-1,2,3,4-tetrazine 1,3-dioxides, such as the 6,8-diazido-5,7-dinitro derivative have been synthesized (Scheme 13.15). This compound is very sensitive towards heating and should be handled very carefully.
