Benzaldehyde/methyl isocyanate

Van Koten and Frey used a hyperbranched poly(triallylsilane) as the support for palladium- pincer complexes.[63] The supported palladium-pincer complexes were applied in the catalytic aldol condensation of benzaldehyde and methyl isocyanate. Their activity was similar to that of single site Pd catalysts. According to the authors, the complex is suitable for continuous membrane applications, as demonstrated by their purification by means of dialysis. [Pg.101]

Hyperbranchedpolytriallylsilanes functionalized with NCN [C H3X(CH2NMe2)2-2,6] ligands were reported by van Koten and Frey [19]. The soluble supports were used as ligands for the Pd-catalyzed aldol condensation of benzaldehyde and methyl isocyanate. Activities similar to that of parent NCN-Pd complexes were observed (Scheme 2). The hyperbranched polymeric systems showed similar properties to those of analogous dendritic compounds, indicating that structural perfection is not always required. The polymers were purified by means of dialysis, showing a potential application in continuous-flow membrane reactors. [Pg.787]

As an example supporting the above statements regarding parallel reaction steps, parallel reactions of isocyano-isocyanate 1752b at both the isocyano and iso-cyanato groups can be accomplished in a one-pot procedure, whereby methanol is added to the isocyanato group and a Passerini three-component reaction (P-3CR) with benzaldehyde and acetic acid occurs at the isocyano group, simultaneously affording both the urethane and Passerini product moieties in l-N-(0-methyl-carbamato)-10-N -[(2-acetoxy)-3-phenylacetamido]decane 1753 in 92% yield [1289]. [Pg.450]
