Basic Concepts of Triglyceride Transport

Before discussing the different forms of EHL and considering some pathogenetic factors involved in the production of different syndromes, a brief summary of present understanding of triglyceride transport may be in order. No attempt will be made at this time to discuss areas of controversy. For details we refer to reviews by Fredrickson and Gordon (1958), Havel (1958), Jeanrenaud (1961), and by 

Dole and Hamlin (1962), as well as to other parts of this volume. Since human data are incomplete in many areas, findings from animal experiments will be included, with the full recognition that some of these data maybe misleading because of species differences.
