Figure 3.13f shows a barrel fixture that has a grid structure that contains the substrates.t By rotating the cage, the substrates are tumbled and all surfaces are exposed to the deposition. This type of fixture is used to coat small substrates such as aluminum-coating titanium fasteners for the aerospace industry. To coat balls, such as ball bearings, a vibrating shaker table may be used. [Pg.105]

Fixture, cage (film deposition, electroplating) A container with wire mesh sides that contains loose parts and is rotated during the deposition process to allow complete coverage of the parts. Also called a Barrel fixture. [Pg.616]

Difference in linear expansions coefficients of guiding channels of the assembly and reactor core barrel is compensated by increase of the working stroke of spring block of FA cap. For connection/disconnection of AFA stainless cap and GC a simple device is used not requiring replaceable fasteners or complicated fixtures with power nut drivers. As the inspection stand is available the procedure on dismounting or mounting the AFA cap takes a minimum time. [Pg.148]

Barrel plating (electroplating, PVD technology) Plating objects that are loose inside a rotating grid structure (cage or barrel) so that they are tumbled and completely covaed. See also Fixture. [Pg.567]

The air shot fixture was then installed and run at both the 295°C and the 270°C barrel temperature profiles. Since the fixture was heated, the velocity sweep was extended to include a slow velocity of 1 mm/sec (0.5 ccm/sec). The pack pressure was set to zero, but some variation in the cushion occurred as the screw overshot the transfer position depending on the velocity. This allowed the effects of viscous dissipation to be studied while minimizing the effects of adiabatic compression. [Pg.2174]
