Baking soda, chemical properties

The chemical properties of substances allow them to transform to new substances. Both natural gas and baking soda transform to carbon dioxide and water. Copper transforms to patina. [Pg.42]

In this lesson, students will observe a chemical property of the blue unknown (baking soda). When vinegar is added to the baking soda, the two substances react chemically to form bubbles of carbon dioxide. In general, you can expect the vinegar test to produce the results in Figure 7 1. [Pg.83]
