Bacillus laterosporus

In 1981, we discovered a completely new type of antitumor antibiotic (75,17). This was prodxjced by a strain of bacteria which we classified as Bacillus laterosporus. On the basis of its structure (Fig. 11), we named this antibiotic "spergualln". [Pg.88]

In 1960 Burgerjon and de Barjac 6) tested six of the available strains and varieties of crystalliferous bacteria, two strains of B. cereus, and one of Bacillus laterosporus. They found that only B. thuringiensis var. thuringiensis produced the thermostable toxin in appreciable quantities. [Pg.72]

H.,Nj03, Mr 241.29, needles, mp. I80-183°C, 1d -51.4° (CHjOH), soluble in water, methanol. L. is produced by Bacillus laterosporus and inhibits ami-nopeptidase M (IC50O.2 pg/mL). L. is formed biosyn-thetically by coupling of L-leucine to L-histidine under elimination of the carboxy group of L-leucine and the amino group of L-histidine. ... [Pg.356]

In vitro methods of chitin degradation by bacteria such as Bacillus laterosporus, Bacillus pabuli. Bacillus stearothermophiilus, Bacillus subtilis. Bacillus thuringiensis sub sp. play a specific role in secondary metabolite production with suitable culture medium (YNB, LBB, NB) (Soiuza et al. 2005). Although 0.3% colloidal chitin concentrations significantly enhanced the chitinase activity in Fusarium chlamydosporum (Mathivanan et al. 1998), the additional colloidal chitin at 0.5% induced the maximum chitinase production in Bacillus sp. NCTV2 (Wen et al. 2002), Altemaria alternata (Sharaf 2005), and Trichoderma hanianum (Sandhya et al. 2005). [Pg.593]

An antitumor antibiotic spergualin was discovered in the culture filtrate of a bacterial strain BMG162-aF2 that is related to Bacillus laterosporus, and its structure was determined to be (—)-(155)-1-amino-10-guanidino-11,15-dihydroxy-4,9,12-triazanonade-... [Pg.116]
