Azirines, Diazirines, and Related Compounds

Azirines, Diazirines, and Related Compounds. Tiifluoropyruvic acid, postulated previously as an intermediate in the basic hydrolysis of perfluoro-(2-methyl-2/f-azirine) (25a) to fluoroform and oxalic acid, has now been isolated as its monohydrate CF3-C(OH)3 COsH, following treatment of the azirine with water at room temperature. Ethanolysis of the azirine at ambient temperature yields the esters CF8-C(0H)2-CO2Et and CFs QOH)-(0Et) C02Et, By contrast, basic hydrolysis of 3-methoxy-2,2-bis(tri- [Pg.121]

Pyrolysis of azirine (25c) at 60—100°C causes it to rearrange in a novel manner to give the isocyanate (CF3)8CMe-NCO, which reacts with water or phenol in the usual way to yield the urea [(CF3)2CMe-MH]2CO and the urethane (CF3)2CMe-NH C02Ph, respectively. Attempts to synthesize the isocyanate from hexafluoroacetone failed at the last stage  [Pg.122]

Studies on the optical spectra of unsaturated three-membered ring compounds have included an examination of the electronic spectrum of difluoro-diazirine force constants and thermodynamic functions for the CFjNj [Pg.123]

Kostyanovskii, Z. E. Samilova, and V. G. Plekhanov, fzvest. Akad. Nauk [Pg.123]

Several iV-substituted 2,2-bistrifluoromethylaziridines have been synthesized for use in n.m.r. studies of nitrogen inversion barriers  [Pg.124]
