Assembly of aryl Sulfones

The Ma group revealed that Cul-catalyzed couphng of aryl hahdes and suffinic acid salts could be promoted by L-proHne (LI), leading to reaction at 80-95 °C to afford aryl sulfones in good yields (Table 9.17, entry 1) [82]. Both aryl/heteroaryl iodides and bromides were found to be suitable substrates. Prior to that (CuOTf)2-PhH/DMEDA (Lll) was demonstrated to effect this reaction at 110°C (entry 2) [83].
