Asphalt institute surface dressing chip seal design

5 Asphalt institute surface dressing (chip seal) design [Pg.683]

The quantities (rate of spread or application) of bitumen emulsion and aggregate required for single and double surface treatment are given in Tables 15.14 and 15.15, respectively. [Pg.683]

As for the quantity of bitumen emulsion, the values refer specifically to the emulsion grades as given in Table 15.14. The quantities of emulsion cover the average range of conditions that include primed granular bases and old pavement surfaces. [Pg.683]

The bitumen emulsion sprayed rate should be adjusted for the conditions of the road surface, such as smooth, absorbent or flushed surface. The corrections applied are given in Table 15.16. [Pg.683]

Rates of spread (quantities) of the aggregate and bituminous emulsion similar to those recommended by the Asphalt Institute are provided by ASTM D 1369 (2012) for single. [Pg.683]
