Aspergillus niger, microbial transformation

Studies on the microbial transformation of artemisitene 27 by Aspergillus niger yielded 11- f-artemisinin 88a, 9/3-hydroxydeoxy-1 l-< /)/-artemisinin 89, and 9/3-hydroxy-l l-< /)/-artemisinin 88b. These metabolites were characterized on the basis of their spectral data <1999P257>. When artemisinin 9a was transformed hy Mucorpolymorphosporus or A. niger, five products were identified as 9/3-hydroxyartemisinin 90, 3/3-hydroxyartemisinin 91, deoxyartemisinin 75b, 3/3-hydroxydeoxyartemisinin 75a, and la-hydroxydeoxyartemisinin 92 <2002JNP1693>. [Pg.860]

In the course of our studies on the microbial transformation of terpenes, this paper deals with the identification of oxidation products of 16 by Aspergillus niger and chemical conversion to biologically active compounds. [Pg.179]
