Aspects in solution

This behaviour can be explained by the thermodynamic factors and kinetic aspects in solution. 

To deepen these results the authors have synthesized oligo-l-isopropylethyleneurethanes (/-form) ( =1—7). Conformational aspects in solution were investigated by ORD, IR, and NMR. It seems that the critical size for helix formation depends on the kind of side chain, as the isopropyl oligomers began to form an ordered helical structure for the tetramer, while in the isobutyl series this formation began at the hexamer only.
