10-Aryl-3,6-dinitroacridones, formation

Treatment of 2.2 4,4 -tetranitrobenzophenone with an aromatic amine in DMSO leads to the displacement of both ortho—ai.x.ro groups and the formation of an iV-aryl-3,6-dinitroacridone in high yield (J.H. Gorvin and D. P. Whall. J. chem. Soc. Perkin I, 1979, 1364). [Pg.25]
