Are Phosphate Fibers Carcinogens

I had hardly demonstrated that useful sodium and calcium phosphate fibers could be made before their safety was questioned. The first to question their safety was a business school type, vice president. He was in the audience when I made the first public disclosure of phosphate fibers within our company. [Pg.203]

The Vice President approached me, the one who ultimately controlled our research money, and asked How do you know they don t cause cancer  [Pg.203]

I was insulted. I answered, If they are unsafe, they are the first sodium or calcium polyphosphate to be unsafe.  [Pg.203]

He countered, That s what THEY said about asbestos.  [Pg.203]

The VP knew nothing about asbestos and less about polyphosphates, but business schools had told him that he didn t have to know nothin about nothin, to manage everthing. He believed it. [Pg.203]
