Applications rotationally molded products

Rotationally molded products have walls of uniform thickness that are free of orientation and weld lines. As such they are resistant to environmental stress cracking and are therefore suitable for use in large-scale chemical containment uses. Linear low density polyethylene resins excel in such applications. Storage tanks of up to several thousand gallons capacity are used in agricultural, domestic (septic systems), and industrial applications. On a smaller scale, rotationally molded fuel tanks (chemically treated to reduce diffusion) are used on tractors, cars, and small gasoline-powered appliances. 

Products A wide range of LLDPE and HDPE products can be produced. LLDPE is used in film, injection molding, rotational molding and extrusion applications and can be made using either butene or hexene as the comonomer. 

Products Almost, any density PE can be cosbeffectively produced with comonomers—propylene, butene, octene or combinations. Densities range from. 900 to. 970 with MFTs ranging from 0.8 to 100. Major applications are film, injection molding, rotational molding, sheet, pipe and crosslinking, where extreme mechanical properties are required. 

Typical applications of rotational molding include chemical tanks, automotive and commercial aircraft parts, backyard play equipment, toys, etc. Rotational molding requires long cycle time, which puzzles the overall success of the technology. The cycle times are restricted by the time required to heat up and cool down the mold and the product by the slow heat convection process.
