Applications of CVD Silicon

Many applications of silicon are found in integrated circuits and other semiconductor devices and include the following (see Chs. 13-16 on applications of CVD). 

Interconnection conductors. Resistor and emitter contacts. Thermal and mechanical sensors. Photovoltaic cells. 

Silicon is also alloyed with germanium (Si Gei.x) for applications such as heterojunction bipolar transistors and optical emitters
