Kerkhof and Vissers (1978) defined a dimensionless number qk indicating the degree of difficulty of a separation. 

For each case the value of qk is also shown in Table 5.6. Note that although the maximum profit (shown in Table 5.6) has no direct correlation with qk, Kerkhof and Vissers (1978) showed that (Dopt /Dmax) 100 has a direct correlation with qk. The
