Application of Polymer Liquid Crystals in Optoelectronics

The main feature of polymer liquid crystals is the possibility to freeze their anisotropic structure, both polar and unpolar. This feature has been utilized for the last decades to manufacture polymer fibers of high mechanical strength [64]. Excellent mechanical properties of polymer liquid crystals were used recently in constructing diaphragms for loudspeakers [65].
